What happens if I make a mistake when registering a company?

As a company formation agent we occasionally see mistakes in the information submitted to Companies House. Fortunately, most mistakes are easily remedied.

The availability of the Companies House webfiling service ensures most errors can be corrected in a matter of hours by submitting a simple online form.

For example, if a director has been appointed with erroneous information the details can be changed by submitting a CH01 form. This allows the name, home address, residential address or profession to be updated. Please note that in order to amend a date of birth the appointment of the director would need to be terminated and then appointed again with the correct details.

Errors in a company name are also easily fixed by filing form NM01. One point to consider is that all name changes are shown in the company history.
