Changing the accounting reference date.

The accounting reference date is the date in each year to which accounts will be drawn up. The date depends on the date of incorporation as it is the last day of the month in which the anniversary of incorporation falls. For example, if your company is incorporated on 4 March this year, the accounting reference date will be 31 March, and its first financial year must end on 31 March next year.

You can change the accounting reference date by filing Companies House form AA01. This can be filed once in a five year period so be sure that you want to change the date.

If you need assistance filing form AA01 and we formed your company please contact us for advice. We can file most company documents online at Companies House for a small charge.

We are here to help you. If you have any further questions please do not hesitate to call 02476 103 104 for friendly and professional assistance.

Please note Companies House processing times are an estimate only and not guaranteed.
